2023-05: 32nd Avenue and 38th Street Reconstruction

Construction of the final phase of work for the project began on April 22, 2025.

The project includes reconstruction of approximately 440 metres of road, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water main along 32^nd Avenue (37^th St – 3910 32^nd Ave) and 38^th Street (32^nd Ave – 30^th Ave). The project will also include upgrades to the sidewalks and incorporate new bike lanes.

A key consideration for this project is to address the drainage issues along 32^nd Avenue identified as a high priority through Drainage Infrastructure Prioritization Plan. The current drainage system is frequently overwhelmed and residents are experiencing flooding.

The project will result in the solution of the drainage problems, transportation safety improvements, and infrastructure renewal.

LATEST UPDATE AUGUST 11, 2025:
Construction is now complete on the 32nd Avenue and 38th Street Reconstruction project. The contractor is working through some outstanding deficiencies and is expected to have those resolved in August.

Previous updates:
July 14, 2025: Paving is now complete on the 32nd Avenue and 38th Street Reconstruction project. Landscape restoration and clean-up will continue into July.


May 26, 2025: Progress continues on the 32nd Avenue and 38th Street Reconstruction project. The Regional District North Okanagan is renewing the watermain at Alexis Park Drive and Gateby Place, as part of the project. Unexpected complexities with existing underground water infrastructure have extended the timeline for commissioning the new watermain. The new watermain is scheduled to be in service by end of May. The contractor is actively working to complete the remaining components of the project, with overall completion targeted for July 2025.

March 24, 2025: The contractor submitted their traffic management plan for work to renew the watermain across Alexis Park Drive and down Gateby Place. The work is scheduled to take place in late March and early April and will require lane closures on Alexis Park Drive.

March 10, 2025: Construction has resumed on the project and the contractor is currently working on completing the retaining wall on the north side of 32 Avenue at the west edge of the project. The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of spring 2025.

February 10, 2025: The contractor plans to remobilize to the site the week of February 10th to finish the project. They aim to complete the work early in spring 2025, within the approved budget. The project team will communicate road closures and detours to the public and surrounding community before the work commences
