Fourteen months into the construction phase, the Kal Tire Place - North project is still, on time and on budget.
A major milestone was reached on July 9, when the concrete slab was poured (Click to see PDF of pictures). A crew of 35 workers from Reward Construction Ltd worked throughout the day and evening to complete the slab. Sealer was applied to the slab and then it was covered with water to
help keep it cool and help it cure. The five inch slab covers 15.5 kilometres of brine lines that carry the brine that will eventually chill the slab and make ice. There is a required 37 day waiting period while the slab cures before the concrete’s temperature can be reduced. The tile sport flooring installation is underway and has been installed in the dressing rooms.
The flooring for the transition area is scheduled to be installed the week of July 16. Painting continues throughout the facility including door trims and railings.
