The City of Vernon's economic development department is responsible for managing, coordinating and promoting economic development activities in the City of Vernon. The department can assist in making projects a reality.

John Perrott started his career in Economic Development in 2003 and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Okanagan College and a Master of Management from the University of British Columbia.  John has been an active member of the British Columbia Economic Development Association's Board of Directors since 2016 and has been a featured speaker at past annual conferences.

In 2015, John's dedication to his work in Economic Development was recognized with two awards:  The Okanagan College Young Alumni and the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce's Top 40 Under 40. 

John brings significant experience to the City of Vernon from his previous position as the Economic Development and Tourism Manager for the City of West Kelowna.

Roy Nuriel - Economic Development Planner

Roy brings over 15 years of planning and development experience to the role of Economic Development Planner for the City of Vernon.  Roy provides and coordinates planning services to serve the business community, manages various development applications and assists with policy development, while supporting economic development initiatives.

Building on his education, professional planning background and practical experience, Roy strives to create solutions that result in the best possible outcomes.  Roy completed a Master Degree in Geography and Urban Planning with Honors and a Bachelor Degree in Urban and Regional Development from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel.  He is knowledgeable in many aspects of planning and development, and has served as a Committee Member with the Institute for Community Engaged Research (ICER) through UBC Okanagan since 2015.

Roy is a Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Planning Institute of British Columbia. While previously working in Long Range Planning, his knowledge and experience in urban revitalization, affordable housing, and economics, proved to be a valuable asset for the City of Vernon.
