Residents in Vernon can now access free, one-to-one support on how to make their homes more energy-efficient and comfortable.
The City of Vernon has partnered with the BC non-profit Community Energy Association (CEA) to offer 25 eligible residents personalized guidance to improve their home’s energy efficiency through the Retrofit Assist program.
Participants will get one-to-one guidance from the Retrofit Assist team who will guide them through the process of getting an Energuide evaluation of their home's energy usage. They will also be linked with local contractors who can do the recommended work and meet all the requirements needed to access rebates.
Retrofit Assist in Vernon is supported with funding through the Province of BCs Local Government Climate Action Program, which enables community-specific action to reduce GHG emissions and increase climate resilience.
The introduction of Retrofit Assist aligns with Vernon’s Climate Action Plan which aims for all existing buildings to be retrofitted to be energy efficient, use zero carbon energy systems, and become resilient to climate change impacts by 2050. Having this support in place will make it easier for individuals to achieve this step.
The program has already helped hundreds of BC homeowners upgrade their homes while maximizing access to rebates and subsidies to make retrofits more affordable.
