RCMP Volunteers

For more than 25 years, RCMP Community Safety Volunteers have supported crime prevention and public safety initiatives in partnership with the City of Vernon and the North Okanagan RCMP Detachment.

Working alongside the City’s Community Safety Unit and local RCMP members, volunteers help promote a safer community through education, outreach, and proactive crime prevention programs.

Community Safety Volunteers act as extra eyes and ears in the community while supporting initiatives that increase awareness and reduce opportunities for crime.

Community Events

RCMP volunteers support community events by providing a friendly, highly visible presence and helping create a safe, welcoming environment for attendees. Volunteers may conduct foot patrols of event areas, assist with wayfinding and general public inquiries, share crime prevention and personal safety information, and act as extra eyes and ears by observing and reporting concerns through established channels. Volunteers do not enforce laws; they focus on public reassurance, engagement, and timely communication with on-duty police and event organizers when issues arise
