The Leaders in Training (L.I.T.) Program inspires teens to be community leaders by giving them the skills and experience they need to become confident leaders.
Guided by an experienced mentor L.I.T Program participants develop leadership skills through applied learning within recreation programs like, Active After school, Camps and Special Events.
The program offers valuable work experience, leadership, organization and communication skills. Our Leaders will grow confidence as they are challenged, see successful application of learnings, and contribute in a meaningful way to their communities.
L.I.T.'s in grade 10+ can use hours towards "Employability Skills" and "Community Involvement and Responsibility" for their School Portfolio.
Students will receive:
Valuable work experience
Mentorship from recreation and sports leaders

For children and teens to benefit socially and emotionally from cross-age teaching.
To create a community of youth who are prepared to take on new challenges and opportunities in Recreation
Leader-in-Training Level 1
Attend Leadership Training
Commit to a volunteer placement of 6 weeks
Lead activities provided by Program Director
Assist with set up and take down of program
Engage positively with participants and volunteers throughout the program
Record volunteer hours and learning experiences in your Volunteer Journal
Participate in team building Meetings
Report all behavioural challenges, accidents, and incidents to the Director
Leader-in-Training Level 2
Attend Leadership Training
Commit to a volunteer placement of 6 weeks
Create, Plan and Lead activities
Engage positively with participants and volunteers throughout the program
Set up and take down of program
Record volunteer hours and learning experiences in your Volunteer Journal
Participate in team building meetings and contribute ideas to help improve the program.
Attempt to problem solve behavioural challenges and work with the Director to solve accidents and incidents
