Residential solid waste cart application

The City of Vernon supplies garbage and organics carts to each residential property, as part of the municipal solid waste collection service. Please complete the form below for the following requests:

Please note that due to high demand for 240L Organics cart exchanges, delivery times are currently extended. Deliveries may take up to 2 months to complete. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Note* As a Company/Strata Corporation, you may be required to provide documentation proving signing authority (i.e. Registered Corporation or Shareholder / Partnership Agreement / Property Management Contract).

NEW CONSTRUCTION delivery

Each residential property is required to have a minimum of one garbage and one organics cart as per Bylaw 5983.

The City provides a cart for the purpose of garbage and residential organics collection for residential properties to each single detached house, secondary suite, accessory dwelling, duplex housing, semi-detached housing, or approved multiple housing unit.

Cart fees:
For each garbage cart, a recurring fee of $27.59 per cart will be added to your quarterly utility bill. 

For each organics cart, a recurring fee of $25.62 per cart will be added to your quarterly utility bill.

If the new construction contains a legal suite, carriage house, or lane-way, additional service(s) will be added to your quarterly utility bill.

ADD, CHANGE or REMOVE a cart

Cart fees:

For each garbage cart, a recurring fee of $27.59 per cart will be added to your quarterly utility bill.

For each organics cart, a recurring fee of $25.62 per cart will be added to your quarterly utility bill.
 

Cart exchange fees:

A one-time administration and delivery cart exchange fee of $38 will be added to your utility account.

Cart fees:

There is no fee to remove a cart. However, a minimum of 1 garbage and 1 organics cart must remain on site. 

Note: 
Solid waste collection is mandatory within the City of Vernon. Each residential property will be allocated a minimum number and size of garbage and organics carts. Please refer to bylaw 5983 Section 3.27 and Section 3.36.
