Operations Services
Fleet Services operates a CVSE designated Inspection Facility providing support services for the procurement and efficient maintenance operation of the City, Fire Rescue and Recreation Services.
Licensed Technicians repair and maintain a mixed fleet of municipal autos, trucks emergency apparatus, commercial vehicles, arena equipment and a variety of construction and maintenance equipment.
Support services include, aircraft fuelling, vehicle fuel use reduction awareness, accident investigation, driver training, welding fabrications and small tool repair services for all City departments.
Strive for best value when purchasing vehicles, construction machinery and equipment, and outsourcing services. Provide and administer fuel supply for all City vehicles including Fire Rescue, and RCMP.
The City of Vernon Building Services is primarily responsible for the delivery of safe, secure and sustainable municipal owned buildings and facilities used by the employees, residents and visitors of the City.
Building Services manages the operations and maintenance, capital renewal and energy use of key civic buildings relied upon to provide critical municipal services.
Under the direction of the Manager Utilities, this department is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance and repair of storm infrastructure within the City of Vernon, including storm mains, manholes, culverts, catch basin, creek channels, ditches and storm retention facilities.
The department is also responsible for the construction of "in-house" capital works storm projects. In addition to the above, the department is also involved with Infrastructure Asset Management Investigation for short-term and future capital programs.
The Manager, Utilities oversees the daily operation (by contract with Greater Vernon Water) of the water system and is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the water infrastructure (transmission, distribution and storage) which includes water mains, hydrants, valves, residential and commercial services, 18 pump stations and 11 reservoirs; within the City of Vernon and Areas B and C.
Under the direction of the Manager utilities, this department is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance and repair of the sanitary collection infrastructure , including gravity mains, force mains, manholes and residential & commercial services City wide.
The department also plays an important role in construction of capital works projects associated with sanitary collections system.
The City of Vernon RV Dump Station has been relocated to the former Kin Race Track lands located west of Kal Tire Place, at 3501 43rd Avenue. The site is anticipated to be open by the May Long Weekend.
