Recreation Services has modified their swim lessons guidelines at the Vernon Aquatic Centre to align with current provincial health orders. These guidelines are intended to increase participation levels while minimizing the risk that COVID-19 poses to the health of its employees and to the public. Parent participation is no longer required for most swim levels. In order to prevent congregation in the viewing area during swim lessons, we are asking that only one parent/guardian of children aged six (6) and under stay in the viewing area during their child's swim lesson. For parents of children in Starfish, Duck and Sea Turtle, we encourage you to bring a swim suit and participate in the lesson. Exceptions can be made for children over six (6) years who require additional support. Parents must wear a mask while in common areas such as the lobby, viewing area or changeroom.
Here are some things to consider before you come, and during your visit:
Do not come to the pool if you are sick or feel unwell.
Swimming lesson participants are encouraged to arrive no more than fifteen (15) minutes before your swim class.
Children who do not need assistance getting changed can use the main entrance to access the pool. Children who require assistance will use the universal changerooms or enter through the viewing area with their parent/guardian using the club changerooms.
Lockers are now available for 25 cents to store belongings if needed.
Everyone must have a cleansing shower before entering the pool area using soap and water.
Do not spit or blow your nose in the water.
Respect the personal space of the instructor and other participants.
