Clint Kanester, Manager of Protective Services, reported to Council that the Food for Fines Program raised $4,252.50. Food for Fines is a program that ran from December 4–10, during which all parking fines paid would be donated by the City to local charitable organizations that feed individuals, families and groups in our community. At its regular open meeting on Monday, Council endorsed donating the funds to the Upper Room Mission (80 per cent) and All Saints Anglican Church (20 per cent).
In addition, the Kindness Meter program has raised $1,521,13 as of October 31. These funds will be donated to Vernon Salvation Army.
