The Community Safety Office (CSO) is looking for a few good volunteers!

The Vernon CSO is the flagship operation of the Protective Services Community Safety Unit. Staffed by RCMP CSO volunteers, the storefront has expanded beyond traditional Community Policing functions and now provides overall Community Safety initiatives.

Not sure if this may be a fit for you? Volunteers with the CSO include retirees who want to stay connected to their community, or individuals who are looking to pursue a career in policing, administration or human services.

In order to be part of this dynamic team, you must be over the age of 19 and able to commit to a minimum of 4 hours per week for at least one year. Volunteers must also attend all required training sessions and meetings.

CSO volunteers provide the public with Community Safety information, educational information on crime prevention programs, drug awareness, bullying, and community, personal and internet safety. They also complete a variety of administrative duties and take part in community events.

You can learn more about the position and qualification requirements by visiting the City’s website here, or by visiting the Community Safety Office at 3010 31st Avenue. Volunteer applications are also available online or at the office.
