Final week to complete online survey for phase one of Active Living Centre Feasibility Study

News

Only a few days remain to provide feedback online for the first phase of public engagement for the proposed Active Living Centre. Greater Vernon Recreation Services (GVRS) is hoping to collect more public input for its Feasibility Study prior to an open house later this month.

An online survey will be open until Sunday, November 17th, which allows participants to provide feedback on potential recreation spaces, amenities, features and locations.

Through the engagement process of the 2018 Recreation Master Plan, the Greater Vernon community identified a need for new indoor recreation opportunities, including a new aquatic facility, gymnasiums, a fitness centre, an indoor walking/running track and dedicated program multipurpose spaces. This current Feasibility Study has been commissioned to better understand the costs and benefits associated with public investment in new indoor recreation facilities.

“Our Feasibility Study team has been working hard to connect with people across the Greater Vernon region in person and online to gather as much feedback as possible,” said Shayne Wright, manager of Recreation Programs. “Once we have the results of the survey, we will compile the data and share the information at an open house on Sunday, November 24th. This will be part of the next phase of public engagement.”

The survey is available at www.engagevernon.ca/active-living-centre.
