Water service interruption for Okanagan Landing area Friday, November 18

News

UPDATE as of November 18, 2022 at 3:15pm.

City crews have finished an emergency water main valve repair in the Okanagan Landing area. Water service is now being restored to nearby properties. Service is expected to be operational for all customers by 6:00 p.m.

Residents that experienced the water service interruption today may notice turbidity (cloudiness) or air in their tap water. If you experience either of these things, please run a cold water tap at a low volume until the water has cleared.

The City would like to thank all customers who have been impacted by this service interruption for their patience and understanding while these repairs were being made.

City crews will be conducting emergency repair work in the Okanagan Landing area starting tomorrow morning on a water main valve.

As of 7:30 a.m. tomorrow (Friday, November 18), properties in the following areas will experience a temporary water outage:

  • 5888 - 7090 Okanagan Landing Rd
  • Lakeshore Rd (from Okanagan Landing Rd to 2691 Lakeshore Rd)
  • Marshall Fields
  • Cummins Rd
  • Dallas Rd
  • Captain Bailey Rd and Captain Bailey Way
  • Willow Park Rd
  • Longacre Dr to Apollo Rd and Upper Apollo Rd

Additionally, properties in the following areas are asked to maintain minimized water usage:

  • Properties west of the 7000 block of Okanagan Landing Rd to the border of the Outback
  • Sunset Properties
  • Whitepoint Road
  • Predator Ridge

The service interruption is expected to last approximately 8-10 hours, and the service interruption area could expand without notice.

Residents in the affected areas are asked to make necessary arrangements to have a short-term water supply available before the interruption begins (such as filling bathtubs, pots and containers). For those with a reduced water service, the City asks that you conserve water use as much as possible during the repair, to reduce impact to the water system.

Single lane alternating traffic may be set up in the areas where crews are working on the repairs. Motorists traveling in the area should expect minor travel delays, and are reminded to slow down in construction zones and obey all traffic control measures.

The City apologizes for any inconvenience this disruption may cause and thanks everyone for your patience and understanding. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
