Crews are continuing emergency repair work on a broken sanitary sewer line in the Okanagan Landing area.

To assist the repair efforts, residents and visitors living south of the Vernon airport, including Predator Ridge and Eastside Road, are being asked to reduce their use of the sanitary sewer system.

Please limit or avoid activities like showering, doing laundry, or using the dishwasher. Minimizing water use, to essential activities only, will help reduce the impact on the sanitary sewer system and assist crews in the field making the emergency repairs.

Additionally, a public notice remains in place for several Vernon beaches along Okanagan Lake. Beaches from Kin Beach to Paddlewheel Park will be temporarily closed until water quality testing confirms it is safe.

Signs have been posted at the effected beaches advising that swimming is not recommended.

The City will continue to monitor the water quality and will inform the public when it is safe to resume swimming in the area.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue.
