Road closure on Tronson Road for water main upgrades

News
Road Update

Beginning July 2 at 7 a.m. a road closure will be in effect at 7210 Tronson Road, between Old Stamp Road and Kinsmen Beach, to accommodate water main upgrades and future pumphouse construction to connect to the Reginal District of North Okanagan’s (RDNO) utility.

This work is developer-led and managed by the general contractor to deliver infrastructure upgrades that will become RDNO’s facility after commissioning. The Frind Winery pumphouse construction will also increase capacity for agricultural servicing in the Bella Vista and Swan Lake areas.

The developer’s contractor’s hours are from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays with the possibility of extended hours and some weekend construction activity.

Construction is scheduled to be complete by the end of July.

Select bus stops along Transit Route No. 8 will be temporarily closed: Tronson Road & Old Stamp Mill, Tronson Road & Bella Vista Road. For updated route information, please visit BCTransit.ca.

Motorists are advised to allow for extra travel time when driving through posted detour routes in the area and be respectful driving through neighbourhoods. For the safety of crews and residents, please follow all construction signage and detour instructions and adhere to speed limits.

A truck route detour will be in place on Bella Vista Road and 41 Street until further notice. Vehicles over 5,500 kg are being asked to detour along Bella Vista Road to access Tronson Road beyond the construction zone. To reach Bella Vista Road from 25th Avenue, use 41 Street for detour access.

All other traffic, including cyclist traffic, is being detoured at Tronson and Palmer roads for traffic east of the construction zone, and Bella Vista Road and Lakeridge Drive for traffic west of the construction zone.

Kin Beach will remain accessible to park users.

The RDNO and the City of Vernon appreciates the patience of motorists and residents while the developer’s work is underway on the City’s road network.
