A very special film experience is coming to Vernon. SESQUI and the City of Vernon have partnered to bring HORIZON – A Visual Symphony of Canada to the Vernon Recreation Centre on Sunday, November 5th as part of the Canada 150 Anniversary and Vernon 125th Birthday celebrations.

HORIZON is SESQUI’s marquee hemispherical film. The 20-minute film is a soaring visual symphony that places viewers in the centre of the action during an inspiring showcase of Canadian creative expression that unfolds from coast to coast to coast. HORIZON takes its audience on a revealing expedition from the highest peaks to the deepest seas, and through all ten provinces and three territories. Drawing upon artistic inspiration from across our country’s rich cultural mosaic, the film features traditional and contemporary creative works set in the unforgettable urban and natural landscapes of our diverse nation.

SESQUI is a new and inspiring way to see and understand Canada. Powered by cutting-edge technology, SESQUI offers a revolutionary 360° cinematic experience marking Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation. Featuring the full dome screening experience along with virtual reality storytelling, interactive games and learning resources, SESQUI showcases the best in Canadian arts and innovation.

SESQUI will be stopping in the Okanagan after travelling to the Yukon and NWT at the end of October. “This year, we’ve travelled to communities all across the country to showcase our special 360 degree film. The response has been very positive!” said Andrea Stewart, Executive Producer of SESQUI. Some comments that viewers have made after viewing the film include “It was breathtaking, I didn’t want it to end”, “Wonderful, Canada at its best” and “It’s like a love song to Canada”.

Showings of the 20 minute film will be held every 30 minutes starting at 9:00am with the final showing at 4:30pm. The SESQUI inflatable dome theatre will be located in the Creekside Conference Center Auditorium at the Vernon Recreation Centre. The inflatable dome can accommodate up to 30 viewers at a time. Viewing the film is FREE of charge and on a first come, first served basis; no advance tickets or reservations are required.
