Active Living Centre construction update
Council received a quarterly update on the construction of the Active Living Centre (ALC). The project remains within budget and on track to open to the public in fall 2026. The City is actively exploring mitigation strategies in response to potential tariff developments and is assessing possible impacts on the ALC project.

Community members can learn more about the project by visiting the City’s booth at the Chamber Expo on Saturday, April 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Kal Tire Place North located at 3445 43rd Ave. To follow progress online, visit vernonalc.ca and click on the Construction Camera for real-time updates.

Okanagan Regional Library update
Council received a presentation highlighting 2024 year-end statistics from the Okanagan Regional Library (ORL) with a focus on the Vernon Branch. The presentation emphasized the Vernon Branch’s role as a vital community hub offering resources, social connection and a critical resource during extreme weather events. Recreation Services semi-annual update
Council received an update from Recreation Services summarizing participation numbers, events and courses offered at the Recreation Centre. These recreational initiatives continue to play a vital role in enhancing the well-being for our community.

2025 Tax Rate approved
Council approved the 2025 tax rate based on updated BC Assessment information and the rate was reduced accordingly. During the December 2024 budget deliberations, an overall tax increase of 11.06% was calculated and approved by Council. For an average single-family home in Vernon, valued at $802,464, the municipal tax increase for 2025 will be 9.91% or $227.
