From the Vernon Morningstar: "You may have heard of Jazzercise, and other activities aimed at improving health. But a new program in town is using the power of voice to to aid wellness. Singersizing comes to the Halina Centre, starting Monday, March 23, with sessions to continue each Monday following, from 2 to 3 p.m.
“Singersizing is a wellness program that transforms the love of music and singing into an enjoyable — and healthful –activity,” said creator and facilitator Marv Machura. “Singersizing delivers improved mental acuity, better posture/breathing, enhanced emotional wellness, healthier circulation and lower blood pressure. Singersizing is also a powerful anti-aging stimulant that exercises seldom-used facial muscles removing wrinkles and improving skin tone.”

Singersizing is directed singing in a supportive, non-judgemental, and safe, inclusive group. The focus of Singersizing is not to sing better (although most people will become better singers), the focus of Singersizing is mental, emotional, and physical health and wellness.
Machura started his concept prior to COVID and did a few well-received sessions at various local conferences, but was stopped by the restrictions of those years.
“The idea would not let go: I just had to try it again,” said Machura, who also currently has a monthly Singersize group at the Regency in addition to the drop-in group starting at Halina Centre.
“The sky is the limit with Singersizing…maybe it will become the new yoga?”
Anyone can join a Singersize with Marv session or program. No special clothing or musical background is needed.
