A Retaining Wall Permit is required for the construction, alteration, or replacement of a retaining wall on a property. This permit ensures that the wall is designed and built safely to prevent soil movement or collapse, complies with zoning and building regulations, and protects neighboring properties and public safety.

NOTE: Permits are required for retaining wall structures that are 1.2 m (3.94 ft) or greater in height, where there is substantial surcharge above the wall, or where the proposed work is within a sensitive land area. Retaining walls with heights greater than 1.2m require a complete Development Variance Permit, the Retaining Wall Permit will not be processed without it.
