In 2024, the City completed a Creek Crossing Inventory Assessment that identified the need for an ongoing maintenance program and prioritized larger rehabilitation projects such as the 39th Avenue Crossing. With climate change driving more frequent and intense rainfall events, proactive investment in drainage infrastructure has never been more important. The rehabilitation of the 39th Avenue Crossing is a responsible step in preventative maintenance—extending the life of the structure, reducing long-term costs, and ensuring this key piece of stormwater infrastructure continues to serve the community reliably into the future. The project budget has been prepared with trenchless technology in mind to rehabilitate the structure for at least the next 25 years.
