Administration completed an asset management review of the City’s drainage infrastructure in 2015 that identified a gap in sustainability to provide a base level of service for the service and infrastructure provided at the time. Projected increases in rainfall event magnitude and frequency, especially for more extreme events, further emphasizes the need for preventative maintenance for the City's drainage infrastructure. Preventative maintenance activities help to ensure that key stormwater infrastructure reaches its expected service life. Maintenance includes ditching and shoulder grading, pipe flushing and maintenance, CCTV and manhole inspections, spot repairs and sediment basin cleaning, as well as any unplanned maintenance due to an emerging issue. Administration completed a condition assessment of the culvert and bridge creek crossings in 2024.  The assessment recommended a list of preventative maintenance to maximize the life of these crossing structures.  In 2025 a workplan was created that will systematically complete this over a period of 10 years.
