The City of Vernon ESS Reception Centre continues to receive and assist evacuees from neighbouring communities who have been displaced due to the White Rock Lake wildfire.
Starting Saturday, August 28, the Reception Centre will be open during the following times:
- 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
- 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
The above hours will remain in place until further notice. The Reception Centre is located at the Dogwood Gym in the Vernon Recreation Centre (3409 35th Avenue).
If anyone is experiencing COVID symptoms or has been asked to self-isolate and needs to access ESS, please call 811 immediately to speak with a healthcare professional for recommendations. Once you are ready to continue with an ESS request, please call 250-550-7850.
Residents are reminded that Emergency Support Services (ESS) is a provincial program that offers short-term basic support for people impacted by a disaster who do not have access to supports through family, friends or private insurance. For more information on the ESS program, please visit the Province of B.C. website.
