Making a splash! Greater Vernon outdoor pools open for the summer

News

Residents in the Greater Vernon area have another place to go for a cool dip as we continue to navigate hot and sunny weather in the North Okanagan. The Lakeview “Peanut” Pool and the Lavington Wading Pool are open for the season and Recreation Services is excited to invite folks in for a splash.

“It was exciting to see families back in the water, enjoying their time at the Lavington Wading Pool today,” said Gary Lefebvre, Manager, Aquatics. “As of tomorrow (July 1), we’ll see the same thing at the Peanut Pool and we’re looking forward to a great summer ahead!”

Admission to the outdoor pools is free, however, space is limited to prevent overcrowding. Residents are encouraged to check the City’s website for operating hours at gvrec.ca.

For those who choose to head outside and enjoy part of their day in the sun, remember to practice warm weather safety. The BC Centre for Disease Control recommends wearing sunscreen, UV-protective eyewear, a hat and protective clothing, seeking shade when possible, staying hydrated and taking it slow with outdoor activities.
