The City of Vernon is preparing to improve local roads through its annual Road Rehabilitation Program, helping to create safer, smoother, and more reliable travel for residents, businesses, and visitors.

In 2026, the City will invest $1.8 million to rehabilitate approximately 4.4 lane kilometres of roadway throughout the community. Construction is underway and will continue through September.

Road rehabilitation work typically occurs between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., although some projects may require overnight work to reduce impacts on traffic and nearby businesses.

Please note that construction schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, contractor availability, and other factors.

Investing in the maintenance and rehabilitation of Vernon’s road network helps extend the life of existing infrastructure, improve driving conditions, and manage long-term replacement costs. Roads are inspected annually and are prioritized based on road condition, traffic volumes, and lifecycle requirements. Rehabilitation work may include milling, asphalt resurfacing, crack sealing, and other pavement preservation treatments.

The City works closely with contractors to coordinate construction activities and minimize impacts to residents, businesses, and the travelling public whenever possible. During construction, motorists should expect temporary lane closures, reduced speeds, and short delays.

The City appreciates the patience and understanding of residents, businesses, and motorists while this important work is completed.
