LATEST UPDATE JANUARY, 2026:
The art piece installation was delayed to 2026 as the pole fabrication took longer than anticipated.  The project team is working on a schedule to have the pole, chairs and mountain feature installed in the first half of January.

Previous updates:

September 15, 2025: The contractor has finished all roadwork and is now focused on constructing the center of the roundabout. Installation of the art piece, the concrete base for the pole and chair, and surrounding landscaping is scheduled for the week of September 15th. The overall project remains on track for completion in September 2025, with the pole and chair installation scheduled for November.

July 14, 2025: The contractor has installed the curbing, half of the roundabout, and is finalizing completion of the road for paving on the west side. Traffic will then be detoured through the completed west side so that work can start on the east side of the roundabout. The project is on schedule and is planned to be completed in September 2025.

June 23, 2025: The contractor is finalizing completion of the storm infrastructure and streetlight utility work. Traffic continues to be diverted on the east side of the intersection to allow the contractor to work on the west side of the roundabout. The project is on schedule and planned to be complete in September 2025.

May 26, 2025: Construction is underway. The contractor finished the temporary road and retaining wall work on the east side of the intersection. Traffic will be diverted to the east side of the intersection to allow the contractor to work on the west side of the roundabout.

April 28, 2025: Construction started the week of April 21, including mobilization, site meetings and initial works. Throughout the project, the team, which includes the Communications Department, will provide timely updates to the public regarding access to the Foothills neighbourhood, and any road disruptions.

April 14, 2025: Construction will begin after the Easter long weekend. The project team is working with the Communications department to update the public regarding access to the Foothills neighborhood and road disruptions as a result of the project. While construction is underway, Silver Star Road will remain open to through traffic. Access will be facilitated using bypass roads, detours, and single-lane alternating traffic patterns during the course of construction. Crews will be working from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday to Friday, with the possibility of weekend work. The Map below provides local residents additional information regarding access to their neighborhoods.

January 14, 2025: The construction contract has been awarded to Chapman Industries Ltd. Construction will begin in the spring of 2025. The project team will update the public regarding road disruptions as the project schedule and traffic management plans are finalized.

The project includes design and construction of a new roundabout, road reconstruction, new curbs, sidewalks, street lighting (including pedestrian crossing flashers) and drainage upgrades.

Construction of the roundabout will safely accommodate future pedestrian activity as the Upper Foothills and adjacent development build-out and will control the increased Silver Star Road traffic.
