A water break main break near 35A Street and 40 Avenue has closed southbound traffic and reduced northbound travel to single-lane traffic on 35A Street. The break has also affected water service to approximately 50 residences. Significant flooding resulted from the break. Water filled the sewer system and pump stations were over capacity. Crews responded quickly to repair service to sewer lines and pump stations.
Water service is expected to be restored by 3 p.m.
Kal Tire Place was also affected by the water and sewer backup in some of the building's lower rooms. The sewer and water lines at Kal Tire Place have been cleared, and staff are in the process of cleaning, assessing and repairing damage. The Vernon Viper game has been cancelled this evening.
A water main break was also reported in the 1800 block of 15 Street. Water service to approximately 20 residences has been disrupted and is expected to be restored in six hours.
