Building boom continues in Vernon

Mayor and Council received the quarterly update today on Economic Development and Tourism activity. According to the update, as of the end of June, the City of Vernon has issued $88.8 million in building permits—up from $44.3 million at the same time last year.

“This is shaping up to be one of the strongest years on record, especially in the residential sector where we have seen 386 new units started this year,” said Kevin Poole, Manager of Economic Development and Tourism. “We are just halfway through the year and housing starts are already third highest on record.”

Major building permits issued this year include:

  • The Hamlets at Vernon (Phase 1, 3050 29 Avenue) $20 million
  • Regency Retirement (150 Units, 1800 58 Avenue) $18 million
  • N&T Properties (86 Units at 2501 48 Avenue) $12 million
