The City of Vernon is advising motorists and residents of a temporary closure on 17 Avenue between 36 Street and 21 Avenue while crews complete underground storm and sanitary utility repairs and repave the road.
Work is scheduled to begin Monday, August 17, and is expected to be completed by Tuesday, September 1. Construction will take place daily between 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., and the road will be closed in both directions during this time.
Detours will be available via 21 Avenue or 15 Avenue. A map showing the closure and detour routes is provided below.
Local access to nearby businesses and residences will be maintained throughout the work.
Motorists should expect delays in the area and are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time for their trips. For the safety of workers and the public, please follow all traffic control signs and slow down when travelling near the work area.
Construction timelines may change due to unforeseen circumstances or emergency work.
