The City of Vernon’s Clean Team has returned for the season and is once again working throughout the downtown core to help maintain clean and welcoming public spaces for residents, visitors, and local businesses.
Operating weekdays from June through September, the two-person team focuses on enhancing the appearance and cleanliness of the downtown Business Improvement Area through a variety of maintenance and beautification activities. Equipped with specialized tools and equipment, including a truck, trailer, water tank, and pressure washer, the Clean Team is able to respond quickly and support the ongoing upkeep of public spaces. Once the summer season finishes, the Clean Team shifts to operating three days per week for the rest of the year.
Throughout the season, the team will remove graffiti and stickers, pick up litter, sweep sidewalks and curbs, clean bus stops, maintain street furniture, and address other cleanliness concerns in the downtown core. Their work helps create a positive experience for people living, working, shopping, and visiting downtown while complementing existing City maintenance services.
A clean and well-maintained downtown contributes to a vibrant city centre, supports local businesses, and fosters community pride. By providing dedicated attention to the unique needs of the Business Improvement Area, the Clean Team helps ensure public spaces remain welcoming, safe, and inviting throughout the busy summer season.
The Clean Team works closely with residents, businesses, and community partners to identify and respond to issues throughout the downtown core. Community members can submit concerns and requests for service through the City’s Clean Team reporting system.
This work is part of the City’s ongoing commitment to downtown beautification and community enhancement, helping maintain a vibrant and welcoming environment that residents and visitors can enjoy throughout the year.
