Media are invited to the Vernon Recreation Centre on Monday, November 9th, between 8:30 am and 9:00 am. Contractors will be putting the new bridge beams in place using a crane.
The installation of the new bridge support structure is a pivotal moment in the recreation centre bridge, entrance and lobby renovation project which has been underway since June. Final backfilling and slab preparation work has been done and concrete work will begin shortly. Within the next two weeks, the project will move indoors and work will begin on the lobby and staff offices. The project was originally scheduled to take between 12 and 16 months. It is now anticipated that the project will be completed sometime in the spring.
Media should check in to the Vernon Recreation Centre Information Office. Shayne Wright, Recreation Program Coordinator will be the onsite contact person and will lead the media to a safe area to take photos or capture video.
