The City invites you to take a behind-the-scenes look at the world class operation of the Vernon Water Reclamation Centre (VWRC) with a guided tour.
The VWRC was originally established in the 1930’s and has undergone several upgrades over the years. The most recent changes happened in 2004, totaling $30 million. The VWRC primarily serves properties within the City of Vernon, but the service area does extend beyond the City boundary to include portions of the District of Coldstream and a small number of neighbouring properties.
High quality treated reclaimed water is used to irrigate land around Vernon, including local golf courses, ball diamonds, soccer pitches and agricultural land.
On Saturday, January 25, two public tours will be held, giving community members an opportunity to learn about the comprehensive water reclamation process and how the City of Vernon is protecting our environment and valuable water resources in the North Okanagan region.
The tours will take approximately 90 minutes and will provide for ample opportunity to ask questions. The tours involve indoor and outdoor spaces and include several sets of stairs and potential obstacles. Appropriate footwear is required.
Space is limited, so please RSVP to vwrc@vernon.ca or by calling 250-550-3627 no later than Friday, January 24 at 3:00pm.
