Vernon Aquatic Centre celebrates Family Weekend with free swim times

News

Vernon and area residents are invited to enjoy two opportunities for a free swim at the Vernon Recreation Centre during the Family Day long weekend.

On Sunday, February 12, from 1:30 - 4 p.m., the Vernon Aquatic Centre will be hosting the Jopo swim as a part of Vernon Winter Carnival. It will be an afternoon of aquatic games and prizes at the Vernon Aquatic Centre, with an expected visit from Jopo and Jopette. The Jopo swim is free but donations to the Salvation Army Food Bank are encouraged and will be accepted at the aquatic centre.

On Monday, February 13, the Vernon Aquatic Centre will be hosting a free Family Day swim from 1:30 to 4 p.m. The free swim is possible thanks to a grant from the B.C. Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA). The Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development in partnership with BCRPA made the grant available to support local recreation departments in coordinating family-based, admission-free events scheduled for the Family Day long weekend.
