Vernon crews attend fuel spill incident Tuesday morning

Vernon Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) and City Utilities operators attended and contained a large fuel spill early Tuesday morning (May 24).

At approximately 6:50 a.m., VFRS was dispatched to a report of a fuel spill in a parking lot in the 2600-block of Highway 6. Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed the fuel tank of a personal vehicle broke and leaked approximately 80L of fuel. Crews worked together to contain the spill with the use of a vacuum truck and absorbent materials.

No injuries were reported in the incident and there was no impact to traffic. The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy has been notified of the incident.
