Vernon Aquatic Centre reopened following maintenance shutdown

News

Greater Vernon Recreation Services is pleased to announce the reopening of the Vernon Aquatic Centre following the annual maintenance shutdown.

This annual shutdown gives the opportunity to do preventative maintenance and repairs to systems that cannot be serviced while the facility is open to the public.

A number of major projects were completed throughout the facility, which include repairs to the waterslide tower, maintenance on the UV system for the lap pool, and changeroom upgrades.

2023 maintenance projects

  • Installation of UV disinfection system for the Lap Pool
  • Waterslide tower and flume repairs
  • Leisure pool access ramp repainting
  • Pool filter cleaning & maintenance
  • Pool area tile repairs
  • Changeroom cubicle repairs
  • Changeroom locker maintenance
  • Fitness room cleaning and maintenance
  • Dogwood Gym lighting and floor maintenance
  • Various mechanical system repairs

The facility is ready to re-welcome participants for all aquatic programming. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while this work was being completed.

Swimming lessons will be starting Saturday, September 23. Greater Vernon Recreation is also looking for participants for its Junior Lifeguards Club. Interested individuals must be between the ages of 10 and 14.
