Please be advised that temporary road closures will be in place in downtown Vernon to accommodate the Sundog Festival of Arts & Culture, taking place at Civic Memorial Park on Friday, September 19 and Saturday, September 20, 2025.
Road closures will begin at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19 and continue until midnight on Saturday, September 20.
To ensure the safety of festival participants and the public, the following road segments will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the event:
- 31st Street from 37th Avenue to 39th Avenue
- 37th Avenue from 31st Street to 30th Street
Traffic control personnel and detour signage will be in place to guide motorists around the closures. Local traffic will be permitted to access businesses and residences in the area where possible.
The City of Vernon encourages drivers to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use alternate routes to avoid delays.
There is free parking available at City Hall after 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19 and all day on Saturday, Sept. 20 for the Sundog Festival. A bike and e-scooter valet is available at the festival, and attendees are encouraged to carpool and use alternate forms of transportation to get to the event. There is also street parking available throughout the surrounding areas around Civic Memorial Park.
The Sundog Festival of Arts & Culture is a free, family-friendly celebration featuring live music from 11 different bands, performances, art installations, and food vendors, serving as the official kickoff to Vernon’s Culture Days. For full festival details, please visit sundogfest.ca.
