The City of Vernon and the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) are now accepting nominations for Sustainability Awards and Environmental Leadership Awards to recognize people and organizations that support sustainability. Nomination deadlines are May 1, with winners being celebrated during Canadian Environment Week from June 4 – 10.
Volunteers, business owners and organizations who support sustainability make the community a better place to live. The Sustainability Awards and Environmental Leadership Awards help recognize these community members for their hard work and dedication. Nominations are open to individuals, groups or organizations that contribute to the community.
City of Vernon Sustainability Awards categories (nomination deadline May 1):
- Building and Development
- Sustainable Business
- Community Sustainability
- Youth Sustainability Initiatives
RDNO Environmental Leadership Awards categories (nomination deadline April 22):
- Youth Environmental Leadership
- Individual Environmental Leadership
- Business/Group Environmental Leadership
Forms and detailed descriptions of each category are available at both the City of Vernon and RDNO office or online. Winners will be celebrated during Canadian Environment Week, June 4 – 10, when the community is invited to join the City of Vernon and RDNO in recognizing grassroots actions that help preserve, protect and restore our environment.
