Sunday repair planned for Highway 97 following water main break

Road Update

The City of Vernon is advising residents and motorists that a temporary road surface repair will take place on Highway 97 southbound between Coldstream Avenue and 25 Avenue on Sunday, March 29.

The work is required following a water main break on March 20. Crews completed the necessary underground repairs at that time, and this upcoming work will restore the road surface on a temporary basis.

Work will begin at midnight and is expected to be completed by 9:00 a.m. the same day.

During construction, traffic will be reduced to single-lane alternating flow in both northbound and southbound directions. A detour and traffic control measures will be in place to guide motorists safely through the area.

Drivers should expect minor delays and are encouraged to allow extra travel time, reduce speed, and follow all posted signage and directions from traffic control personnel.
These measures are in place to ensure the safety of workers, motorists, and pedestrians.

This repair is temporary. A permanent repair is scheduled for the week of April 12, when local asphalt plants reopen and hot-mix asphalt becomes available.

The City of Vernon thanks the public for its patience and cooperation during this work.
