Reminder: Pay your property taxes by July 2, 2026

Public Notice

The City of Vernon is reminding property owners that 2026 property taxes are due on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

To avoid a 10 per cent penalty, property owners must ensure their taxes are paid in full by the deadline, including confirming that any applicable Home Owner Grant has been successfully applied for by July 2. The Home Owner Grant is separate from the B.C. Speculation Tax declaration and must be claimed before the deadline.

Property owners are responsible for payment even if a tax notice has not been received. Penalties will apply to unpaid taxes and unclaimed grant amounts after the deadline.

Property owners are encouraged to log in to their MyCity account to:

  • Confirm their Home Owner Grant has been processed
  • Check their account balance
  • Review recent transactions

Tips to avoid penalties:

  • Apply for your Home Owner Grant before the deadline
  • Pay early to allow time for processing, especially for online or third-party payments
  • Plan ahead for the Canada Day holiday and allow at least three business days for bank processing

If you have not received your notice, check your account online or contact the Finance Department at 250-550-3636.

Home Owner Grant questions should be directed to the Province of BC at 1-888-355-2700 or gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant.
