RCMP Appreciation Day 2022

News

Today has been declared RCMP Appreciation Day in British Columbia – a day to pay tribute and give thanks to the brave individuals who have served, and who continue to serve, our communities through the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

Today is also the 102nd anniversary of the creation of the RCMP, which has jurisdiction in 8 provinces and 3 territories and, through its national police services, offers resources and supports to other Canadian law enforcement agencies.

On behalf of the City of Vernon and its citizens, I offer sincere gratitude to all the members and staff of the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP Detachment for your selfless dedication to duty and service in our region.

Thank you for your steadfast commitment to public safety. We know this commitment often means putting yourselves in harm’s way to protect others. We have seen you do this time and again, in some of the most difficult circumstances. Thank you for this sacrifice to help keep the rest of us safe each and every day.

You are very much appreciated.

Victor Cumming
Mayor, City of Vernon
