Overnight road repairs on Hwy 97 this weekend

The City of Vernon advises residents and motorists that overnight road repairs will take place on Highway 97 southbound between Coldstream Avenue and 25 Avenue from April 18 to April 19, 2026.

This work is required following a water main break that occurred on March 20. At that time, crews completed the necessary underground repairs and applied temporary paving due to asphalt plant closures. With asphalt plants now open, permanent repairs can be completed.

Construction will begin at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, and is expected to be completed by 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 19. A map of the work area can he found here.

During this time, traffic will be reduced to single-lane alternating flow in both northbound and southbound directions. A detour and traffic control measures will be in place to guide motorists safely through the area.

Motorists should expect minor delays and are encouraged to allow extra travel time, reduce speed, and follow all posted signage and directions from traffic control personnel. These measures are in place to ensure the safety of workers, motorists, and pedestrians.

The City of Vernon thanks the public for its patience and cooperation during this work.
