VERNON, B.C. (June 26, 2015) – The online auction for autographed National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) jerseys has opened as part of the upcoming NHLPA Community Celebration fundraiser, in support of the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation (VJHF).
In total, eight player jerseys from the NHLPA are available for fans to bid on, including jerseys autographed by Sidney Crosby, Alexander Ovechkin, Daniel Sedin and Henrik Sedin. Bidding for the jerseys will run until 12:30 p.m. PDT on July 10, and the online auction can be found at www.32auctions.com/NHLPAJerseyAuction. All proceeds from the auction will support VJHF.
The NHLPA Community Celebration is a collaborative event that partners the NHLPA with the City of Vernon, Predator Ridge Resort and VJHF, and the fundraiser will take place at Kalamalka Beach on July 10 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. PDT. The family-friendly NHLPA Community Celebration will feature a significant donation of hockey equipment made by the players’ NHLPA Goals & Dreams fund to local grassroots hockey programs, as well as live music by Andrew Allen, activities and an opportunity to meet current and former NHL players.
Many NHL players are scheduled to appear at the NHLPA Community Celebration: Vernon’s own Curtis Lazar, David Booth, Andrew Ference, Josh Gorges, Scott Hartnell, Ryan Johansen, Brayden Schenn, Luke Schenn, and more players to be announced at a later date. Former NHL players Kelly Hrudey, Cory Cross, Brent Gilchrist, Dean McAmmond, Fernando Pisani, Joe Reekie and Steve Webb are also scheduled to appear.
Pre-purchased tickets with a suggested donation of $5 will provide entrants with a chance to win other signed NHL player jerseys, a chance to participate in special stand-up paddleboard events, and a food and drink voucher. Tickets are available at the Vernon Visitor Information Centre (3004 39 Avenue) or VJHF (2101 32 Street).
Free parking will be available at Okanagan College, and shuttle service to and from Kalamalka Beach is encouraged as nearby parking will be very limited.
