The schedule for the upcoming National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) Community Celebration and Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation (VJHF) fundraiser at Kalamalka Beach on July 10 has been set, and the family-friendly event will include opportunities for player autographs, beach volleyball and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). Broadcaster and former NHL goalie Kelly Hrudey will be emceeing the event and local favourite Andrew Allen will be performing.
Current and former NHL players will also be attending the event, including: Cam Atkinson, David Booth, Jason Chimera, Cory Cross, Byron Dafoe, Andrew Ference, Cody Franson, Josh Gorges, Scott Hartnell, Greg Hawgood, Kelly Hrudey, Curtis Lazar, Manny Malhotra, Dean McAmmond, Sandy Moger, Joe Reekie, Brayden Schenn, Luke Schenn, Jerred Smithson and Steve Webb are scheduled to attend.
The NHLPA Community Celebration is a collaborative event that partners the NHLPA with the City of Vernon, Predator Ridge Resort and VJHF, and the fundraiser will take place at Kalamalka Beach on July 10 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. PDT. The NHLPA Community Celebration will feature a significant donation of hockey equipment made by the players’ NHLPA Goals & Dreams fund to local grassroots hockey programs.
Winners of the online auction for signed NHL jerseys will also be announced. The jerseys will be available for auction until 12:30 p.m. PDT on July 10. To bid on a jersey, please visit www.32auctions.com/NHLPAJerseyAuction.
Pre-purchased tickets are available with a suggested donation of $5 and provide entrants with a chance to win other signed NHL player jerseys, a chance to participate in special stand-up paddleboard events, and a food and drink voucher. Tickets are available at the Vernon Visitor Information Centre (3004 39 Avenue) or VJHF (2101 32 Street). Cash-only purchases will also be available onsite the day of the event.
Free parking will be available at Okanagan College, and shuttle service to and from Kalamalka Beach is encouraged as nearby parking will be very limited. Shuttle service will begin at 10 a.m. PDT and the last shuttle will leave Kalamalka Beach at 4 p.m. PDT.
