New trail map helps showcase Greater Vernon as the Trails Capital of BC

Tourism Vernon encourages residents and visitors to explore more than 500 kilometres of trails and outdoor experiences this summer.

Just in time for summer, Tourism Vernon has launched a new trail map designed to help residents and visitors explore more than 500 kilometres of trails throughout Greater Vernon.

Developed by Tourism Vernon — which is operated by the City of Vernon — and in partnership with the Regional District of the North Okanagan, the free map showcases hiking, mountain biking, walking, and multi-use trails across the region. It supports the ongoing Trails Capital of BC initiative and makes it easier for people to explore and enjoy outdoor recreation throughout Greater Vernon.

From accessible lakeside pathways to challenging backcountry hikes, Greater Vernon offers more than 500 kilometres of trails for every age, interest, and ability level. The new printed map complements Tourism Vernon's interactive trail map at trails.tourismvernon.com, giving residents and visitors easy access to trail information and trip-planning resources.

"It's easy to take these experiences for granted when they're right outside your front door," said Torrie Silverthorn, Manager, Tourism Vernon. "One day you can be walking along the lake, and the next you can be exploring alpine meadows or world-class singletrack through deep forest. As the Trails Capital of BC, we know there's a trail for everyone. Whether you're looking to explore somewhere new or show off your favourite local spots, our new printed and interactive trail maps make it easy to get out and explore."

Your next adventure is closer than you think
The map is designed to help people find a new favourite trail. Whether you've lived here for decades, recently moved to the region, or have been meaning to check out that trail you've driven past a hundred times, there's never been a better time to hit the trails in Greater Vernon.

This summer, Tourism Vernon is encouraging residents to explore somewhere new and rediscover the experiences that make Greater Vernon a great place to live. The trails, lakes, and landscapes that locals enjoy every day are the same experiences that attract visitors from across British Columbia and beyond.
