New Lakeshore Park Moving Forward

News

A new park along Okanagan Lake is on the horizon for 2018. The City has developed a preliminary design for several properties along Lakeshore Road that includes picnic tables, bocce courts, accessible swings, a parking lot, naturalized areas, signage, and gathering spaces. Construction on the park will begin this summer and is expected to be completed this fall.

This park is the first phase of a larger park planned for Lakeshore Road, with more phases to come in the future. The City will be following best practices and obtaining a riparian area report as well as reviewing wildlife and dangerous trees in the area. The provincial Ministry of Environment and the Archeology Branch will be notified and plans will be submitted for their review.

Starting this week, residents will be able to provide their comments on the preliminary design, as well as ideas for future phases of the park, at Engage Vernon (www.engagevernon.ca).
