A cross-agency response from local first responders was required today to extricate the driver of a single vehicle accident.
On December 19, 2018, a motor vehicle incident rollover occurred on Highway 97 North. The truck had left the roadway and rolled several times down a steep bank, trapping a single patient inside the vehicle.
Four VFRS members attended to provide technical rope rescue and extrication of the patient. Once rescued BC Ambulance Service provided patient care and transported the patient to the hospital. Okanagan Indian Band Fire Services and RCMP also attended the scene to provide additional support.
“Calls which require multi-agency response are common in our region,” said Vernon Fire Rescue Services Chief David Lind. “I am always impressed when our agencies come together and work towards the common goal, providing excellent service to the public.”
