Keeping roads and sidewalks clear in Vernon

Public Notice
Road Update

The City of Vernon would like to remind residents and businesses of the following items related to snow and ice control:

  • Vehicles and recreational equipment parked on City streets during snowfalls poses major obstacles for equipment operators trying to clear snow and make our roads safe. Ensuring that all vehicles are removed from streets, cul-de-sacs and alleys until after the roads are cleared will allow the operators to do a much better and safer job.
  • Residents and businesses are reminded to clear all adjacent sidewalks and to sand and salt where necessary to ensure the safety of pedestrians. Please ensure that all snow from sidewalks and driveways is plowed to front and side yards and not onto or across roadways. Snow plowed onto roadways reduces road snow storage areas and creates a hazard for motorists.
  • Residents and businesses adjacent to sidewalk crosswalks are also reminded to clear windrows left at the front of the wheel chair ramps to allow safe access for pedestrians using the crosswalks.

The City of Vernon appreciates your help in allowing us to better serve the community during the winter months.
