RCMP provides quarterly update
Council received the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP's second quarter report (April to June 2026), which provided an overview of policing activities, trends, and priorities within the community.
Updated process for Council Compensation reviews
Council approved a new Council Compensation and Citizen Review Committee Policy, effective November 2, 2026. The new policy will replace the existing Council Remuneration Policy and continues with independent reviews of Council remuneration based on recommendations from the Council Remuneration Committee.

43 Avenue Road Closure Bylaw
Following an opportunity for public submissions, Council adopted the 43 Avenue Road Closure Bylaw, supporting future transportation and infrastructure planning initiatives in the area.
Active Living Centre reaches major milestone
Council received an update on the Active Living Centre (ALC), highlighting the start of aquatic centre commissioning. This phase includes filling and testing the pools and aquatic systems, marking a significant step toward opening the facility.
New tenant confirmed for the ALC
Council publicly released an agreement authorizing a lease with ODYNN Performance Therapy within the Active Living Centre's 1,600-square-foot commercial retail unit.
Highway 6 and Kalamalka Lake Road improvements expanded
Council approved an amendment to the Kalamalka Lake Road and East Hill Multi-Use Path project to include a new signalized intersection at Highway 6 and Pottery Road in coordination with the Ministry of Transportation and Transit.
The expanded project has a total budget of $6.9 million, including $4.98 million in provincial grant funding and $1.92 million from City reserves.
Crown Lease renewal supports spray irrigation operations
Council authorized renewal of a provincial Crown lease required for the City's spray irrigation program and confirmed support for an overlapping Crown tenure application associated with the RDNO’s proposed Rose's Pond Park development, provided it does not affect City operations.
Kin Beach Grant Application approved
Council approved submitting a grant application to PacifiCan's Build Communities Strong Fund to help advance improvements at Kin Beach Park.
Recreation and Parks Fees Bylaw introduced
Council gave first three readings to amend the bylaw establishing updated fees and charges for Recreation and Parks services, helping prepare for expanded recreation offerings and future facility operations.
Liquor Store Zoning Amendment advances
Council gave first and second readings to a zoning amendment that would allow liquor stores as a permitted use within the CMUN Zone. A public hearing is scheduled for September 28, 2026.
Development and Planning Bylaws Adopted
Council adopted several planning and development-related bylaws, including:
- Official Community Plan amendments for the Polson Village Centre;
- Updates to landscape regulations;
- Various zoning text amendments; and
- A housing agreement bylaw for 3201 24 Avenue.
Economic Development partnership announced
Council publicly released a one-year partnership agreement with Community Futures North Okanagan to deliver a Business Retention and Expansion program. Funds will support local business growth and retention efforts through December 2026.
