Firefighters responding to structure fire on 37th Avenue

Vernon Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) is currently responding to a structure fire in the East Hill area.

At approximately 9:00 am, firefighters were dispatched to a fire at a residential property in the 1500-block of 37th Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed all occupants were outside of the house and then began actioning the fire, which was on the rear side of the structure. 

Four apparatus and approximately 15 firefighters are on scene. The fire has been deemed under control and firefighters are now checking to make sure there are no extensions into other parts of the property. No injuries have been reported. 

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, BC Ambulance Service, BC Hydro and FortisBC have also been dispatched to the scene. For the safety of public and emergency responders, everyone is asked to avoid traveling near the area at this time.

The cause of the fire is unknown and will be under investigation.
