Today in the Regular Meeting of Council, Mayor Akbal Mund recognized longtime Vernon resident Helen Sidney for her years of helping to improve her community. Ms. Sidney is vigilent in keeping the road along popular Bella Vista Road litter-free, an example she modelled for her students for more than 40 years of teaching.
"It gives me great pleasure to present you with a token of our appreciation for what you have been doing in keeping and maintaining a litter-free area along Bella Vista Road," said Mayor Mund. "I understand that you have been doing this for quite some time and your efforts have not gone unnoticed. We sincerely appreciate this.
"You are a great example and an inspiration for us to follow and do what we can to keep our beautiful little city the jewel that it is. Vernon is indeed fortunate to have a citizen like you."
