Council nomination deadline September 11

Anyone interested in running for Mayor or Councillor in Vernon’s 2026 general local election have until 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11 to submit their nomination papers.

Nomination papers are filed in person with the Chief Election Officer at Vernon City Hall, 3400 – 30th Street.

Candidates are encouraged to book an appointment in advance to review their nomination materials. Appointments can be made by emailing elections@vernon.ca or calling 250-550-3536.

Candidates for Vernon City Council must be nominated by 10 eligible voters.

To be eligible to run, candidates must be Canadian citizens, be 18 years or older on voting day, have lived in British Columbia for at least six months before filing nomination papers, and not disqualified.
